Extra crispy chicken tenders are a dinner favorite!

In this recipe, chicken fillets or chicken breast slices are breaded and fried until crispy.

Dip or drizzle with honey garlic sauce or your favorite dippers for an enjoyable family meal.

Ingredients for chicken fillets

Chicken: For this recipe, use boneless, skinless chicken fillets or chicken breasts.

Coating: Flour with a little panko makes a crunchy coating for these chicken nuggets. Onion powder, garlic powder and seasoned salt add flavor. Add other spices or seasonings to taste.

Egg: The egg mixture helps the coating stick.

How to make chicken tenders

  1. Prepare the breading: Whisk in flour and flour mixture (for recipe below). In a second bowl, beat the eggs with the water.
  2. Double dive: Dip the tenders into the breading, egg mixture, and back into the breading to coat twice.
  3. Cook until crispy: Fry in oil until crispy. Season and enjoy.

Delicious dipping sauces for chicken tenders

In the notes I added our favorite honey garlic sauce, we love to dip or drizzle the chicken. You can also try sweet and sour sauce, ranch dressing, or honey mustard sauce.

Storage and heating

Store leftover ginger, honey, and garlic chicken in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat the pieces in the microwave and then crisp them again under the broiler or reheat them in a single layer in the air fryer.

Chicken tenders

Tender chicken fillets are double-dipped and cooked until crispy. Serve them with your favorite salsa or dip.

  • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, breadcrumbs and seasonings. Set aside. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, water, and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil.

  • Dry the offerings with a paper towel.

  • Working with half the flour mixture at a time, dredge each piece of chicken in the egg mixture and then in the flour. Dip it a second time in the egg and then again in the flour to coat it twice. Gently press the flour into the chicken. Remove any excess. Place on a wire rack and repeat with the remaining chicken.

  • In a large, deep skillet, heat 1 inch of oil to 350°F. Fry the chicken in batches until crispy and the chicken reaches 165°F, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Drain them on absorbent paper and season with salt.

  • Serve with honey garlic sauce or your favorite sauces.

Flour mixture: When working with flour mixture, I find that working with only half at a time is best to keep the flour from clumping or getting wet.
Chicken: If using chicken breasts, cut them into half-centimeter thick slices.
Honey garlic sauce for dipping or drizzling (optional): In a small saucepan, combine ½ cup Honey⅓ cup waterfall¼ cup I'm willow4 cloves chopped garlic1 tablespoon chopped ginger,½ tsp chilli flakes. Simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat and cool before serving.
