Hare Pyaaz Ki Puri Recipe - Spring Onion Puri

  • To start preparing the Hare Pyaaz Ki Puri recipe, we will first prepare the puri dough.

  • In a bowl, combine wholemeal flour with oil, cumin seeds, ajwain, salt, spring onion and coriander leaves.

  • Mix well and add water little by little to knead and form a hard puri dough.

  • Once the dough has mixed together, add a few drops of oil and level the dough evenly. Cover the Hare Pyaaz Ki Puri dough and let it rest for a while.

  • Preheat oil in a kadai for frying puris on high heat.

  • Divide the Hare Pyaaz Ki Puri dough into equal portions to create lemon-sized dough balls.

  • Dust them with flour and roll out a 3-inch diameter ball of dough, using a rolling pin.

  • We need evenly flattened puris of medium thickness.

  • Once the oil is well heated, dip the flattened Hare Pyaaz Ki Puri in the oil and fry the puris.

  • Fry the Hare Pyaaz Ki Puri in a spider sieve, continuously but gently pouring oil over the puri and allowing it to swell.

  • Thanks to the addition of spring onion, cumin seeds and ajwain, the puri will not puff up like the classic plain puri. It will puff up a little more than a phulka.

  • Remove the Hare Pyaaz Ki Puri from the oil and place it on absorbent paper. Serve hot.

  • Serve Hare Pyaaz Ki Puri recipe along with Amritsari Chole (White Chickpeas in Spicy Gravy) recipe or Batata nu Shaak Recipe – Aloo Tamatar Ki Sabzi, Boondi Raita, Pickled Onions followed by a sweet dish of Mukhadi Halwa Recipe.
