Chex Mix is such a tasty snack because it is crunchy and flavorful. It is so easy to make. Just mix together some dry ingredients and then toss them with a butter sauce.

You can change the flavor of the mix by adjusting the barbecue seasoning or condiments you use. I like to use a mild barbecue seasoning like my Pork Rub. For a spicy Chex Mix, add a little chili powder or cayenne pepper.

  • Chex Cereals: This recipe makes 8 cups. You can mix and match any plain flavor: Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, or Rice Chex. If you want a sweeter mix, use Honey Nut Chex or Maple Brown Sugar Chex.
  • Pretzel Chips: I like them because they are flat like cereals.
  • Red fish: I like Goldfish Cheddar, but you can choose any other flavor.
  • Butter: You will need a block. I use Kerrygold salted butter.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: It is used to prepare the sauce.
  • BBQ Spices: Use your favorite BBQ seasoning. You can choose a mild one or a salty or spicy one.
Substitutions: This recipe doesn't include any nuts. You're welcome to toss in a cup of peanuts, cashews or mixed nuts. You can also use cheese crackers instead of Goldfish and pretzel sticks instead of the crisps.
