The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich

The ultimate breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon, guacamole, chopped tomato salsa, pepper jack cheese, all on a toasted croissant. A little spicy. A little buttery. A little crunchy. Totally exaggerated.

Good morning! Today I bring you one and only one very important message:

This breakfast sandwich is life.

The over-the-top, super indulgent, unmissable weekend brunch. Sleep late, wake up, put on your sweatshirt, tie the knot on the headboard, have a coffee, make a sandwich. Let's go!

In this post: everything you need to know

What ingredients are in this breakfast sandwich

The breakfast sandwich includes but is not limited to:

I extend all my love for breakfast sandwiches to any variation of this creation. English muffins. Pepperjack cheese. Gouda cheese. Roasted red peppers. Magic green sauce. Fried eggs with a runny yolk.

Let's assemble those croissant sandwiches for breakfast

Making these sandwiches couldn't be easier! Here's what you'll do.

  1. Get your croissants nice and golden with a quick bake for a minute.
  2. Cook the eggs in a pan over medium-low heat until perfectly soft. Gently slide the spatula across the pan when the edges of the eggs begin to create soft curds. Watch them carefully so as not to overcook them.
  3. Build your own breakfast, Sammie! Top with some crispy bacon, spicy garlic butter sauce, guacamole (of course), and a slice of pepperjack cheese. To keep it a little more delicate, you can also use a slice of cheddar cheese. My goodness! You are about to be in true breakfast heaven with this one.

How to make eggs for a breakfast sandwich

πŸ‘†πŸΌ The essential is obviously the soft scramble, which we talked about at length earlier this week. This is not your McDonald's breakfast sandwich (although, to be fair, I've been known to eat and love a sausage and egg biscuit in moments of weakness). But no, there are no perfectly formed egg discs here.

We're talking about super creamy, delicately cooked and soft scrambled eggs. I will change my life.

If scrambled eggs aren't your thing, you have options. You could prepare eggs on a baking sheet for a crowd. Cook eggs fried or sunny side up. Put it in your shirt. Your choice!

Variations of breakfast sandwiches to try

While we really love these breakfast sammies with bacon, garlic butter sauce, guac and cheese, it's truly a choose-your-own adventure here and there are endless combinations that would work well and be very, very delicious! Maybe you want to try a waffle or tortilla wrap instead of a croissant? I love it! These waffle nooks and crannies are perfect for holding your sammie components. Maybe a layer of crispy hash browns or potatoes tucked in there? This is a yes from us! Did we hear anyone say a little pickled onion as a condiment for hot or spicy sauce or a little heat? We love the way it rolls! Big flavors ahead!

Breakfast Sandwich: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of bread for this sandwich?

I mean, you could… but even a buttery, toasted croissant here is just TOO GOOD. Even an English muffin would work great here in a pinch.

What other sauces could I use?

Magic Green Sauce would be a REAL WIN here too. Sauce. Your favorite hot sauce. Whatever you like to garnish the eggs.

What could I serve it with for brunch?

A delicious simple arugula or mixed salad with vinaigrette would be perfect here. Also: fruit, juice and/or mimosas, pastries of some kind, and (of course) lots of coffee.

How could I make it vegetarian?

Simply omit the bacon! Maybe replace it with roasted mushrooms too!? Yum.

Can I freeze this breakfast sandwich?

The best breakfast sandwich on a plate

In the last month: I've made them for myself, then for our team, then for our friend Joe when he stayed with us for a few days, and again during the week to make life a little more manageable. Excessive and I care about zero percent. β™‘

It's simply THE ULTIMATE breakfast sandwich.

Go get some croissants.
